Quatrième album de Degiheugi , »Abstract Symposium » est un album qui se démarque de ses prédécesseurs. En effet, si le beatmaker s’est fait connaitre grâce une production essentiellement instrumentale, son dernier effort prend à contrepied toute sa démarche. Vous l’aurez compris, l’album est un disque vocal : une pléiade d’invités, pour 16 pistes à fort caractère. Pas de panique, si vous avez apprécié les albums précédents, il y a fort à parier que ce disque ravira vos tympans comme à la belle époque. Comprenez par là que, même si le parti pris de mettre en avant la voix peut s’avérer risqué pour la solidité de la production du sieur, l’équilibre reste préservé. Au programme, cuts, breaks, « triturage et assemblage », qui ont fait sa renommée, le tout savamment enrichi par les performances vocales des invités. Ici le changement est intelligent, il opère doucement et vous surprend au moment où on s’y attend le moins, tout en préservant certaines bases immuables qui donnent à cet artiste tout son intérêt. But the sphere of classical hip-hop quickly becomes cramped to handle the influx of ideas endlessly irrigating its right hemisphere. Collector of sounds, explorer of the ideal sample, Degiheugi sets off to unearth still raw nuggets, slumbering in the abysses of the internet and under the dust of vinyls marking the past decades. He is reinventing the art of fusing these sound particles to give them a second life with atomic radiation. Impregnated with 5-star featurings and beats with a goldsmith's groove, these dazzling patchworks expand the magnetic field of trip-hop codes, and reveal chemically pure music, full of soul reflections, electronic spleen and melodic flashes. After 7 essential albums and 2 EPs, all celebrated by the growing ranks of his followers, this shadowy beatmaker took the stage in 2015. From Europe to Australia, from DJ Shadow's opening acts to joint stages with Chill Bump, Smokey Joe & the Kid or ProleteR, his performances combine sound and video for a powerful and immersive live experience. On April 23, 2021, Degiheugi present his 8th album "Foreglow"with multiple influences, ranging from samba to Afrobeat through soul and French chanson. After having reissued on vinyl the 8 albums composing his discography, French beatmaker Degiheugi presents his new project "Remixed Treasures" on April 21, 2023. It is the first remixed album in the producer’s career. A project that bears its name well. Like seabed adventurers, the remixers have been asked to rework in their own way some of the most significant tracks of a career spanning more than 20 years.
