Fluid Mechanics Lesson Series - Lesson 12E: The Irrotational Flow Approximation. In this 12.5-minute video, Professor Cimbala defines irrotational regions of flow (also called potential flow regions) and the equations of fluid motion that apply to such regions. He defines the velocity potential function and how to apply it, along with the stream function, to two-dimensional irrotational flow regions. He also derives the "Most Beloved Bernoulli Equation" from the Euler equation and does an example problem. This video incorporates material from Section 10-5 of the Fluid Mechanics textbook by Cengel and Cimbala, Edition 4.
