Diseases affecting the blood vessels of the eyes by restricting the blood circulation are involved in retinal vascular diseases. This V-Learning™ lecture on retinal vascular diseases - I talks about retinal vein occlusions, hypertensive retinopathy, retinopathy in pregnancy-induced hypertension, diabetic retinopathy, and diabetic maculopathy. Moreover, some classification systems are discussed such as Keith and Wagner classification, and Wong and Mcintosh classification. Learn about Central Retinal Artery Occlusion at sqadia.com to know the difference between occlusion of vein and artery in the retina. Retinal vein occlusions refer to the blockage of the veins in the retina. Retinal vein occlusion is classified into central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) and branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Moreover, secondary glaucoma, retinal oedema and haemorrhages, and chronic macular oedema are presented as clinical features of branch retinal vein occlusion. Intravitreal triamcinolone is used as medical therapy for treatment of retinal vein occlusions. Its surgical therapy includes pars plana vitrectomy along with laser therapy. Next subject of discussion is hypertensive retinopathy which is caused due to hypertension. Clinical types of hypertensive retinopathy include chronic hypertensive retinopathy and malignant or acute hypertensive retinopathy. Then comes staging of hypertensive retinopathy which is graded according to the Keith and Wagner classification. Likewise, Scheie classification is used for staging of retinopathy changes. Moreover, Wong and Mcintosh classification categorizes staging of hypertensive retinopathy into mild retinopathy, moderate retinopathy, and accelerated retinopathy. How to manage retinopathy in pregnancy-induced hypertension is also discussed. Another disease of the retina known as diabetic retinopathy comes under consideration in which damage occurs due to diabetes mellitus. Furthermore, diabetic maculopathy is also pursued. Their diagnosis, risk factor, etiology and treatment are discussed respectively. ------------------------------------------------------------- Watch complete lecture on sqadia.com: https://www.sqadia.com/programs/retin...
