Equipped with APS system, North Korea unveils latest version of Cheonma-2 main battle tank. North Korea has unveiled the latest version of its locally-made main battle tank (MBT) at the National Defense Development 2024 exhibition in Pyongyang. Attended by North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-un, the exhibition featured examples of the latest domestically produced weaponry, including the latest version of the Cheonma-2 tank. Upgrades to the Cheonma-2 include the addition of two active protection systems (APS) mounted on its turret. Each turret is equipped with four anti-tank rounds, giving the tank better defensive capabilities against threats from anti-tank weapons. In addition, the Cheonma-2 is now equipped with a 30mm automatic grenade launcher instead of the previous heavy machine gun, as well as an improved turret armor protection system.
