The snowfall, which came on Friday night, caught the capital's residents by surprise and caused minor disruption. Traffic was heavier than usual, and some schools had to close. "Whenever it snows, the streets get too slippery and there is very heavy traffic in the morning," said Mina Karimirad, a resident. "It becomes too difficult to get to work on time," she added. City workers descended on the streets of Tehran and started shifting some of the snow on Saturday.
