On June 22, 1593, the Ottomans suffered their first serious defeat by Christian Europe in Sisak, Croatia. Although, German soldiers also fought in the battle. The battle was decided by God, just as God decided that the Croats would lose the battle with the Turks on the Krbava field. If the Croats had been better led in 1493, we would not have lost that battle. So God decided that the Ottomans should lose in 1593.Of these Ottoman soldiers, half were Turkic Croats, for whom we feel sorry. They where deafeted because of the incompetence and arrogance of Hasan-pasha Predojević. Up to 5,000 Christian soldiers destroyed the Ottomans in 1593. After 150 years of conquering Croatian lands, the Ottomans were finally stopped on June 22, 1593, at the Battle of Sisak. After the fall of Siget, the Ottomans did not conquer new areas for 30 years. Therefore, the new Sultan Murat II. ordered all Bosnian beys to assemble, and to strike at the Sisak fort and march on Zagreb. In preparation for the Ottoman attack, they built a new fortress, Jeni Hisar, today's Petrinja, near the river Petrinjčica. In 1593, after two unsuccessful sieges of the Sisak fortress, which was built 50 years ago by the Bishop of Zagreb, Nikola Olah, the Bosnian Pasha Hasan gathered about 30,000 soldiers. He first conquered the Derenčin tower. He then encamped waiting for strong cannons, near Sisak. He started with strong cannon shots that destroyed the east wall. The commander of the fort, Kaštelan Mikac, asked for the help of Croatian Ban Tomo Erdedi. Ban Toma personally brings to the battlefield a rapidly assembled army of 5,000 soldiers. Opposite were 15,000 Ottomans. Although numerically weaker, the Christian forces took advantage of the firepower and managed to defeat them completely. They squeezed them into a narrow space, and closed the bridge over the Kupa and forced them into the Kupa and Sava. At that moment, the army came out of the Sisak fortress and broke up the Ottoman camp. Two-thirds of the Ottoman soldiers succumbed to their wounds or drowned in the Kupa, among them Hasan-pasha with many Ottoman nobles. Weakened by constant wars and internal problems, the Ottoman army did not recover from that battle. The Ottoman conquests were halted. And soon, under Christian onslaught, its gradual withdrawal from Croatian kings began. As a token of gratitude, the small bell of the Zagreb Cathedral rings every day at 2 p.m. From June 22, 2010 and the bell of the Sisak Cathedral of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. The Battle of Sisak ended the hundred-year Croatian-Turkish war. However, after Sisak, Juraj Lenković with 1,000 Croatian soldiers from Kranjska and Hrvatska Krajina went to the aid of Klis, who was defended by Ivan Alberti. There, Juraj will be defeated, but he will be able to retreat to the Klis fortress. Despite the injuries, he remains alive. After that, in the same year, in 1596, he fought near Kostajnica and Petrinja, then in Slavonia around Požega. In Europe known as a fighter for the Christian cross and homeland.
