Feature of AIX from 2014, so plenty of "field hardening" from real production experience. Briefly: Updating the AIX kernel without rebooting the AIX live kernel. Benefits: No AIX reboot or application downtime to activate a new kernel for AIX technology level (TL) or service packs (SP) update. WARNING: LKU is for experienced AIX System Administrators Only I would allow 2 to 4 days for your first LKU (mostly reading and checking pre-reqs), but a lot faster after that.
