Join me as I tackle this heart-pounding climb toward enlightenment, where every step tests your courage, and every view is breathtaking. Founded by Ajahn Juan, who was drawn to the mountain’s dangerous wildlife like tigers and snakes, Wat Phu Tok’s seven levels were hand-built by monks to represent the journey to enlightenment. The climb is not for the faint-hearted! We’ll navigate narrow, rickety wooden planks and ladders that wrap around the rock face, rising up 300 meters high with only a wooden plank between you and a steep drop. The 6th level offers an unforgettable, 360-degree plank walkway around the rock edge, while the 7th level opens up to sweeping views of pure nature. Wat Phu Tok is one of Thailand’s most thrilling, slightly terrifying, and beautiful temples! After conquering Wat Phu Tok, we’ll journey to Three Whales Rock in Bueng Kan’s Isan region, where massive ancient stones and panoramic views make it one of Thailand’s most incredible hidden gems.
