After unsuccessfully offering our 51-mile 2000 Plymouth Prowler Woodward Edition #123 on GuysWithRides for several months without a realistic offer, Rudy decided to submit it to Bring a Trailer ("BaT"), the undisputed online classic car auction industry leader. In this video, Rudy describes his experience submitting a classic car for auction on Bring a Trailer and what you need to do to have a successful auction on that website: 1. How to research past sales of similar classic cars so that you can push back on Bring a Trailer's submission team to ensure they agree to reserve (minimum) price you can be happy with. 2. Why Rudy recommends that no one ever agree to a No Reserve auction on that site and how to stay firm on your reserve price if you have the fact-based past sales data to back it up. 3. Bring a Trailer has a not-so-well-known "Make-Whole" rule, under which BaT agrees to a Reserve Price but will pay the difference if the bidding falls just short of it. This was the case in our Prowler, as the high bid of $36,250 was $1,250 short of our $37,500 reserve price. 4. The importance of submitting high-quality pictures and video to ensure potential buyers bid on a car site unseen. 5. Proper seller behavior during the auction.
