Last week, I asked "Where am I?" Well, I was here - at the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge outside of Taos, NM. It's also called "High Bridge", and for good reason: at nearly 600 ft. above the river, it's the 10th highest bridge in the United States! And the wind out there? Like a tornado! Gusts strong enough to make you feel you'd topple over the side...There's even a crisis hotline direct line call box in the middle - could that be the source of it's other nickname, the haunting "Last Kiss Bridge"? There's a fantastic trail adjacent the bridge called the West Rim trail, and we gave the 7.5 mile, out-and-back walk our best shot, but the wind beat us back.
