https://www.arizonaelksociety.org/pro... TOGETHER WE ARE ANSWERING THE CALL & MAKING A DIFFERENCE. Would you like to see what over 100 eager volunteers, along with the AES Sawyers (a USFS trained wildland chain saw crew) can do to restore a 3-mile long riparian meadow? Well you won’t believe it and neither did the folks in Washington who recently flew out to see for themselves all that we did on our project the ‘AES LONG VALLEY MEADOW RESTORATION PROJECT, Phase I along SR-87, that took place in May of this year. But, don’t take our word for it take a look at the video and see the difference for yourself. Within 90 days of the project completion, the meadow was fully healed and restored. surface water was slowed and spread out instead of being channeled through the meadow enabling phenomenal growth of dense vegetation bringing the wildlife back to the area and supporting healthy growth of the elk population. AES has long been known throughout Arizona for being the only organization that does restoration on this scale like this project, but turns out that word is spreading on the difference we are making here in Arizona, and now we are being recognized at a national level. It’s not about us as much as it is about our VOLUNTEERS and PARTNERS. T H A N K Y O U ! Our motto at AES is ‘Share the Workload… Share the Success’. We could not have done this huge project without over a hundred volunteers and our partners. Together we make a difference for Arizona’s wildlife. Special THANK YOU to the United States Forest Service, Arizona Game & Fish Department and Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife Conservation. WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE PART OF THE STORY? AES has brought in hundreds of volunteers at each of our wildlife habitat projects over the past 10 years to help in restoring Arizona’s grasslands and to benefit the Elk and other wildlife. Elk need grass for forage to eat and as cover for their calves when they are born. The volunteers of the Arizona Elk Society have cleared over 3000 acres of grassland by hand and invested over a hundred thousand hours to restore habitat for Elk and other wildlife. ANSWER THE CALL & VOLUNTEER FOR WILDLIFE: Come out and join us. We have several projects throughout the year. We’ll show you the ropes, put you to work and feed you, and you will have fun doing it.
