The sixth Art of Nursing Webinar, in partnership with Foundation of Nursing Studies, celebrated the launch of a new exhibition at the RCN. The RCN Library and Museum's new major exhibition presents art by and about nurses - revealing how they have been mythologised, frequently as saints, angels and heroes, usually as female, predominantly as white. It explores the role of art in constructing and also resisting such stereotypes, by exposing the complexity, labour and expertise of nursing, perhaps the most artful of professions. This webinar explores the exhibition themes of creativity, resistance and renewal in more depth. The webinars are engaging hour-long fire side chats (no slides allowed), bringing interesting people and innovative ideas together to show what is possible and how the arts help us deliver sustainable goals. Five people - nurses, artists, and activists - come together to share their work and inspire others into action. List of speakers Kate Forde is a freelance curator, who led on the themes and development of the 'Art of Nursing' exhibition and has curated the programme for this event. Dr Marion Lynch is a registered nurse, public health specialist and creative health consultant. Marion leads the Art of Nursing programme. Marion will share how this work is building into a community of action. Freya Bently is Culture and Commercial Manager at Fitzrovia Chapel, where she curated 'In Uniform: Stories of Nurses and their Clothing' in 2024. Charlotte Mann is an artist, fashion designer and lecturer. For 'The Art of Nursing', she created five mannequins wearing the uniforms of nurses past and present, their bodies carrying the traces of society’s changing attitudes and expectations. Beatrice Ogbekhiulu is a registered nurse and artist. She was an undergraduate nursing student at Exeter University when she produced a double-portrait examining hair discrimination and racism within the profession, which is now featured in 'The Art of Nursing'. This event was held online in July 2025.
