Just HOW do you top one of the more famous, out-of-this-world opening sequences to a game? Well…you do THIS! So much is going on! Wha-wha happen?! What? When?! Why?! Shh….shh, hush now. All will be explained in due time. Now, PlatinumGames stated during development that they wanted to take the climax action Bayonetta is known for and crank it up more than a few notches, to the point that it immediately feels like you’re fighting the final boss…so far they’re succeeding! Makes a battle in a falling clock tower look tame in comparison! We’ve got a strange, yet familiar-looking character in black robes, that same masked figure from the intro, and…holy shit is that a mecha suit?! Yes, yes, it is…we won’t get to have fun with it for a while though. But it’ll be worth it! Bayo also displays an interesting ability or two here that will ALSO get more explanations later. You might recognize our narrator here…its Luka! All this talk of Aesir, the God of Chaos…kinda messes up the established lore, doesn’t it? Jubileus seems to be ruler of Paradiso, if the entirety of Paradiso schemes to bring her back, and then Bayonetta and Jeanne summoned Queen Sheba to dispatch her, who I assume to be the ruler of Inferno…so why would Aesir’s power be the same power as Jubileus’s? Yeah, I guess don’t think about thigs too much? I consider Bayonetta 2’s storytelling to be better overall, but the lore is having an awful lot of monkey wrenches thrown into things… Ah, so Maskey here is a Lumen Sage? Cheeky indeed. And he possesses a gleaming right eye…could you foreshadow any harder Platinum? :P PRESENT DAY….wow, do I hope you played Bayo 1 all the way through! From the remains of Jubileus, it looks like Balder is alive after all, barely. But…who is he talking to? What promise did Bayonetta keep?! So many questions! Well, that’s the end of that, isn’t it? The REAL game starts with our Prologue, the World of Chaos. That’s a gloomy name, eh? Well, considering this little opening sequence is called THE END…yeah, things are kinda dire this time around!
