In 2017, 1 in 3 women reportedly shopped thrift. The vintage industry has been steadily booming thanks to millennial consumers looking to reduce their environmental footprint. In 2018, the second-hand fashion market was projected to outpace off-price and fast fashion. That was, of course, before the world was brought to a quick halt by the coronavirus pandemic. Retail has been among the industries hardest hit by the indefinite mandatory closures across the United States. However, small businesses like Awoke Vintage have been quick to come up with alternative ways to connect with their customers. The Zoe Report spoke with founder Liz Power to learn what customer service looks like in the age of social isolation and how the vintage supply chain is changing amid these new challenges.
