Paragliding Tutorial - Find Your STALL POINT. If approached incorrectly, inducing a stall can be dangerous, but so is flying without knowing where your stall point is. Learn about your wing's stall point, safely by practicing on a smooth training slope. All you need is a gentle slope free of obstacles, a steady wind of about 20 kph, and a pair of legs that dangle beneath you. Being in a seated position for this (or any landing) will lead to crashing on your backside and you want to avoid this!! Follow these steps: 1. Launch and stay low above the ground (never higher than you'd want to fall) 2. Use brakes and flare: pull more then usual to see how long it takes to stall. Apply more brakes gradually to find the limit. (The first part of the stall brings you down gently). 3. Repeat (always ensuring you don't stall the wing higher than you'd want to fall). If you fly with more different paragliding wings, make sure to practice stall point on all wings as every wing reacts differently! As always paragliding requires a good amount of practice on the ground as well as in the sky - of course if you want to have fun in a safest way possible. Ground handling is the core of paragliding. Every good paragliding pilot should master his wing on the ground before "pushing limits" in the sky. Being expert in kiting, ground handling will only increase your potential in the sky! The more you practice the more feeling and skills you will get!
