PM Modi Addresses West Asia War In Parliament As Pakistan Positions Itself As Mediator | India Today

Prime Minister Modi delivered his second address on the West Asia war, this time in the Rajya Sabha, a day after speaking in the Lok Sabha. In the upper house, Modi reiterated India's consistent pitch of peace, dialogue and diplomacy, urging all sides to step back from escalation. He also outlined the government's strategy to tackle the fallout. However, the government's stance has come under sharp attack from the opposition. Meanwhile, global developments have added a new twist. Reports suggest Pakistan is attempting to position itself as a mediator after Donald Trump announced a five-day pause on attacks on oil refineries. Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir is said to have spoken to Trump about the West Asia War. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also dialled the Iranian President on Monday. As per reports, Pakistan is in touch with the US envoy Steve Whitkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, with Islamabad also a possible venue for peace talks.
