Protestors said police deployed pepper spray to break up the crowd about 8am, with some seen pouring water on their eyes. Palestine Action Group organiser Josh Lees says he was sprayed “in the face” with pepper spray by police. As events were expected to get underway inside the Interrnational Convention Centre on Tuesday morning, protesters began pushing on the barricades, shouting “war criminals not welcome here”, and sparking a swift police response. Officers were seen moving media back behind the line of officers as protesters continued to shout “Chris Minns, blood on your hands, Albo, blood on your hands”. Palestine Action Group organiser Josh Lees was at the front of the crowd of protesters as more than 100 police pushed back against the metal fence. Dozens of NSW Police officers were seen running to contain more than a hundred protesters as they converged on the ICC about 6.30am on Tuesday. Police were seen talking in a heated manner with Mr Lees and other protesters were seen being handcuffed in the early moments of the protest. Mr Lees later told NewsWire protesters were “attacked” by police.
