I missed my one and only chance to see King Crimson, the date was July 27, 2021 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA... I still get sad thinking about missing that show. On June 10, 2023 (also at The Eastern!) my dreams of seeing King Crimson music live was finally fulfilled! I saw Jerry Harrison & Adrian Belew open up for Les Claypool's Frog Brigade and 9 songs in they covered Thela Hun Ginjeet, smile didn't leave my face for a few days after that. "That's the closest I'll ever get to seeing King Crimson!" I said to myself... but late 2023 there's rumors of a supergroup comprising of Belew, Levin, Vai, and Vinnie Colaiuta to tour next year performing the music of the 80's King Crimson lineup. Could this be real or just some troll? Well on April 1st, 2024 we found out that it was indeed real, just with Danny Carey on drums instead. What a phenomenal show. I didn't have the greatest of seats as I was located in the Mezzanine Left and my view of Steve Vai and the hideous AI elephant logo were blocked for most of the show but I had a great view of the other 3 so I was contempt. The sound at the venue was the worst of the few shows I've seen there but didn't hinder the music too much. I knew the setlist for each show of the tour was the same but I purposefully avoided looking at it and went in blind to the order of which any of the 80s songs could be played. It was such a treat to see songs off Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair that I was sure I'd never ever be able to see live. Neurotica? N&J&M?? Sartori?? Dig Me?? Model Man?!?! Unbelievable! I thought the setlisting was perfect for what material they played. I'm not a fan of The Sheltering Sky but for those of you who are might enjoy the version played at this show as Belew's guitar malfunctioned multiple times resulting in a very extended solo from Vai. There's some great banter from Belew throughout the entire show which is always a treat to hear when listening to King Crimson from show to show. There is a single cut in the recording during Neurotica resulting in a few seconds of the music being lost to time, but it shouldn't upset you too much, the recording itself doesn't sound all that great anyways. Brilliant show and am thirsting to see King Crimson music performed live in any capacity again. I'd like to shoutout and thank fellow uploader nkLottery for letting me rip-off the way he does his show titles and descriptions and shoutout etem from the King Crimson Discord server who I bet during set break, I hope you and your partner had a wonderful time and I hope you can see them in London next year. Also of note is that 2 days after this show Hurricane Helene would hit the state of Georgia leaving my city out of power for multiple days and almost resulting in the cancellation of the Florida shows on the BEAT tour... seeing my neighborhood destroyed with trees and debris thrown all about right after hearing the decimating avant-garde barrage of Industry a few days prior was certainly a vibe that I'll never witness again in life.
