Machine Vision Using Image Moments Computed in Matlab

Matlab was used to compute the Hu's moments of an object of interest. A scene containing unknown object positions and identities was captured using a webcam. The background was then subtracted from the scene to isolate the unknown objects. And finally Hu's moments were used to identify each of the objects in the scene. One application of these might be to identify fiducials on an optic. We often have fiducials on large optics and use those to correct distortion in our imaging optics and locate the test optic.
