But is one of these machines the best 15 inch laptop for video editing? Is there another laptop that is best for video editing? In order to evenly rate these two laptops and find the best fit for your needs, we are going to focus on four areas. Experience Usability Performance Build Quality Experience: The first area I like to dig into is the experience of using the laptop. How does the laptop you are going to be using every single day look, feel, and sound on the day today? Like I said I love the look and feel of the HP Omen, but it has that nice aluminum keyboard deck and good quality polyurethane bottom and top cover. The Strix II takes the opposite approach by placing the Aluminum on the top cover, featuring a carbon fiber key deck, and polyurethane on the bottom cover. So when it comes to the look and feel of these computers there is a clear distinction between the two. Hopefully, that will make the decision between these two machines easier for you. Screen: Both screens have nearly the same bezel thickness with the HP Omen having the slightly thicker top bezel to accommodate for the web camera. Asus has opted to place the camera on the bottom bezel, making the top bezel only a millimeter or two thinner than the HP Omen. Honestly, I like the aesthetic of the HP Omen screen much more. It feels less chunky. That thick bottom bezel is a little much for my taste. Both screens have a 144Hz refresh rate. This assists in video editing playback as well as gaming if you have some free time between designs and edits. Color Accuracy: HP Omen - 93% of RGB Color Space Asus Strix II - 90% of RGB Color Space Noise: The last thing I want to talk about as far as experience is concerned is the fan speed and noise. These machines are NOT quite by any stretch of the imagination, but they powerful. Noise is something that annoys a lot of people, I really don't know why.. Most gamers and designers have their headphones on and either listen to their game or Jam out to music. Anyway, you have been warned if you are a noise hater… they are loud. But with so much power packed into such a small package, those fans have to work had to keep things cool. Usability: Usability is important if you are someone who needs to be on the go. Whether you are a graphic designer, filmmaker, illustrator, or some other form of creator if you are on the go usability matters. Battery Life HP Omen: 4 - 5 Hours Asus Strix II: 2.5 - 4 Hours Weight: The Strix II weighs in slightly lighter than the HP Omen at: HP Omen - 5.56 pounds Asus Strix II - 5.41 pounds These machines are packed with power so they are slightly lighter than your average high-end laptop but substantially lighter than some of the bulkier gaming laptops on the market. For instance, my Dell XPS 15 weighs in at 4.41. Exactly a full pound lighter than the Strix II. Although when you consider the substantial performance boost compared to my Dell XPS 15 the weight is well worth it (as you will see in the performance section to come). Performance: Now we get to the good stuff. What can this machine do? I was very excited to get my hands on these machines. Recently I reviewed the 17-inch version of the Strix II. It was a little bulky and heavy for my taste, so I was very curious to see how that much power would fit into a 15in case. The 32GB of RAM, 8th Gen i7, RTX 2070, and SSD fit well into these machines. I was quite pleased with the form factor of both machines. ------- SOCIAL Twitter ► @bengkaiser Facebook ►/bengkaiser Instagram ►@bengkaiser MY FAVORITE GEAR: (affiliate links) Camera ► http://amzn.to/2BWvE9o CamStand ► http://amzn.to/2BWsv9M Compute ► http://amzn.to/2zPeLvs Mouse ► http://amzn.to/2C0T9hq TubeBuddy ► https://www.tubebuddy.com/bengkaiser Blue Host ► https://www.bluehost.com/track/bengka...
