Yup, I got back to Indianapolis! Had another family reunion. But I found some time just today to railfan for a bit. I've seen the Railroad Street spot last year, but never got to go there. I found my time to spend some time here this time. It looks like a neat location and has some good views. This train came shortly after I arrived. I remember when Uncle Joe told me that he's seen some few trains that carry used steel to some plant to recycle it. He also told me that he once got stopped by the Circus Train. Anyway, this might have been the steel local since I see a coil car and a lot of gondolas. It had a nice road slug leader and 2 GP40s. The lead Road Slug had a nice sounding K5LA! According to rrpicturesarchive, this engine was a GP35 and was originally owned by the B&O. This catch reminds me of several other good EMD catches: the SD40-2 leading a local with a GP40-2 and Road Slug, the GP38-2 leading a work train with a GP40-2 and Road Slug, and the GP40-2 leading a local with a Road Slug and CEFX SD40M-2. I didn't have high hopes for a train at this location, but I guess the timing worked for me! I was pretty happy to see another EMD leading, especially after I saw a lot of GEVOs since summer started. Now I can't wait for another YN2 GE leading. Also, if you've noticed, those Geeps were really kicking up some smoke as they were hauling ass on this local. It would be interesting to ever see a Road Slug running on its own power, but they'd probably have to put a 16-645-E3 in the locomotive, since the 567D3A it used as a GP35 is now obsolete. Enjoy! 1.
