(23 Feb 2026) RESTRICTION SUMMARY: ASSOCIATED PRESS Philadelphia – 23 February 2026 1. Various of airport runways 2. SOUNDBITE (English) Daniel Gueyikian, recent college graduate from Chicago: ++ PARTIALLY COVERED++ “So right now I'm in Philadelphia. I came out from the East Coast over the weekend to see some friends and attend a conference. I was originally in New York and my flight was at first to fly back home through Newark. And then all the snow in the sky fell at once. So, I decided that I might be able to catch a flight if I came a little south to Philadelphia. So, my first flight was out of Newark yesterday night. Cancelled. Rebooked for this morning in Philadelphia. Cancelled. Rebooked for the middle of the day around 1 today in Philadelphia. Cancelled. Now my flight right now is scheduled for 5 in the afternoon. It's the first flight on the board that is not cancelled. So hopefully, I'll be able to get on that flight and get back home to Chicago. How is my winter going in general? It's a little bit too long if you ask me. I'm wondering if they'll let me become the new groundhog and I can decide if winter stays a little bit longer. Because it's been a bit much.” 3. Mid of airport departure area 4. SOUNDBITE (English) Barbara Johnson, traveler heading back North Carolina: ++ PARTIALLY COVERED++ “It's my mother-in-law's 90th birthday. And we wasn't going to miss it for the world. Whether it's snow, whether it's sleet, whether it's whatever, her 90th birthday. And we made it here to Philadelphia to celebrate.” 5. Various of runways 6. SOUNDBITE (English) Ken Johnson, traveler heading back North Carolina: ++ PARTIALLY COVERED++ “Yeah, so we're from Philadelphia, so we're kind of used to this weather. However, we're glad to be going back home. Thus far, our flight is on time, and we're grateful that all the organizations got together and got everything cleared up. At least for our fight and hopefully other people as impacted, but it's been a great trip.” 7. Various of departure area STORYLINE: A massive snowstorm pummeled the northeast United States from Maryland to Maine on Monday, forcing millions of people to stay home amid strong wind and blizzard warnings, transportation shutdowns, and school and business closures. Flights in and out of Philadelphia were largely grounded for much of the morning, with service beginning to resume around 2:20 p.m. The first departures were scheduled to run through the evening. Airport officials reported 605 cancellations and 12 delays as of the afternoon, out of roughly 730 scheduled arrivals and departures. Daniel Gueyikian, a recent college graduate from Chicago, found himself stranded after multiple cancellations. Gueyikian traveled to the East Coast over the weekend to see friends and attend a conference. He was originally scheduled to fly home through Newark, but his flight Sunday night was canceled due to the storm. He rebooked for a Monday morning departure out of Philadelphia — that flight was also canceled. A midday departure was scrapped as well. By early afternoon, Gueyikian was holding onto hope for a 5 p.m. flight. Other travelers were determined not to let the storm derail important plans. Ken and Barbara Johnson traveled to Philadelphia to celebrate Ken’s mother 90th birthday. “We weren’t going to miss it for the world — whether it’s snow, sleet or whatever,” Barbara Johnson said. The couple, originally from Philadelphia but now heading back to their current home in North Carolina, said they were grateful their return flight remained on schedule. === AP Video by Tassanee Vejpongsa Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork Twitter: / ap_archive Facebook: / aparchives Instagram: / apnews You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
