~ Along with the sopwith camel/beau brummels/mystery trend/great society/jefferson airplane/the marbles/the electric train etc etc the solution were of the first wave of san francisco rock bands having formed in '65...very popular all over the bay area they were : ernie fosselius/bob knickerbocker/john yager & john chance....sometimes when knickerbockers girlfriend jane dornacker would join them on keyboards/vocals they were named 'earthmother & the final solution'...they appear on countless early poster's of the period and after a month's long residency at the 'red dog saloon' in virginia city summer of '66 (where the charlatans made a name forthemselves..) they made their way back to the bay area where john chance the drummer left the band but by october jerry slick of the now disbanded 'great society' joined and straight away brought about some arrangement changes which tightened the band up...never releasing anything they did infact lay down a demo in '66 which we still have to hear...this track was recorded at the matrix along with several others and shows a band with a folk-rock and wailing r'n'b influences...a good live band that has left behind the matrix tapes and some rehearsal stuff for us to hear...early '67 saw them audition several female singers but nothing came of it and shortly thereafter the band folded....
