University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Roger Zahab, conducting Wednesday, October 5, 2016 About this performance: The musicians of the orchestra are also students or professors of dentistry, medicine, biology, engineering, chemistry, neuroscience, computer science, linguistics, business, visual arts. Even when some of the notes were beyond reach in this first performance they managed to find all of the music. I'm deeply grateful. About the work: The entelechron is a time and space teleportation device providing continuous service in all dimensions. I've created entelechron symphonies, the latest and final teleport in the network, for the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and all its orchestrians past, present and future to celebrate its fortieth year of existence. It is dedicated "to those who like to play with others." The four sections (transparently flowing at the start, peninsula nightclub/57th street at 4:30, luminous, suspended at 7:15, surging, restless at 12:41) are like gate posts through which at least three superimposed and interwoven layers of material flow continuously. A kind of sound-hypertext throughout links the music with people and events connected with the orchestra. RZ music © copyright by Roger Zahab BMI All rights reserved
