Shaun King on Dillon Gabriel's second start & why the Browns should play Shedeur Sanders soon

Former NFL quarterback Shaun King didn’t hold back when talking about the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback situation, especially after Dillon Gabriel’s second career start. King acknowledged that Gabriel has the traits you want in a young QB — composure, leadership, and mobility — but he also made it clear the Browns aren’t getting enough juice out of the offense. In King’s words, “You can’t baby a rebuild at quarterback when your roster’s ready to win.” Cleveland’s defense is elite, the offensive talent is solid, and patience is running thin. Gabriel may be holding down the spot, but he hasn’t elevated it. King’s biggest point centered around Shedeur Sanders — and why now might be the time to let him loose. The Browns drafted Sanders to be their future, and while Kevin Stefanski’s “slow development” approach makes sense on paper, King believes it’s time to speed that clock up. He argued that Sanders brings a level of arm talent and confidence this offense desperately needs. His ability to extend plays and attack vertically could energize a group that’s looked lifeless in back-to-back losses. King noted that sitting too long can actually stall a young QB’s growth, especially when the guy ahead of him isn’t producing wins. The message was clear: Cleveland’s window with this roster won’t stay open forever. If the Browns want to know whether Shedeur is the real deal, the only way to find out is to play him. Gabriel has been serviceable, but “serviceable” won’t beat Baltimore, Kansas City, or even Cincinnati when it matters. King’s take cuts deep because it echoes what a lot of fans in the 216 are already thinking — it’s time to see the kid. Let him take his lumps, make his mistakes, and learn on the field.
