82-year-old Edmonds woman arrested for hate crime after assaulting Trump supporters

An 82-year-old Edmonds woman was arrested Monday for a hate crime after assaulting two Trump supporters, according to the Edmonds Police Department. She has not been charged, but a judge found probable cause for a hate crime offense and two counts of fourth-degree assault Tuesday. On Wednesday, a newly released police body camera video shows the suspect explaining to responding officers what happened. The 82-year-old told police, “I approached her, and I said I want to know why you're voting for Trump. That's the only thing. And. And I said because you're brown-skinned." The incident happened a day before the election, just before 1 p.m., at the corner of SR104 and 100th Avenue West in Edmonds. Gina Powell said she was on the receiving end of the encounter.
