On December 22, LDA bulldozers, accompanied by over 500 personnel from Lucknow Police and the UP PAC, arrived at Akbarnagar on the banks of the Kukrail River to dismantle approximately 1,200 illegal structures on the riverbed. The situation escalated when local residents confronted the police in an attempt to thwart the demolition drive, leading to an alleged lathi charge by the authorities. BJP leader Mangal Jha was also reportedly involved in a scuffle with the police, as he supported the protestors, expressing concern that this incident could become a historic mistake for the BJP.
