The biggest theropod ever discovered may have been Goliath the T. rex, a new record-breaking Tyrannosaurus femur specimen. It seems that every time a rival to its megatheropod throne appears, Tyrannosaurus summons a new supergiant fragmentary specimen out of the void. In 2023, a chunk of Giga dentary was reconstructed as being comparable to Scotty at 10.4 tonnes. Cope showed up with a femur, fibula, tibia, and maxilla, and ended up being about a tonne heavier. This time, a second Meraxes specimen turned out to be gigantic, comparable to the Giga holotype at between 8 and 9 tonnes, and a new Giga reconstruction gives the dentary specimen an approximately 10.6-tonne mass. Naturally, Goliath spawned in with femur measurements that were so much bigger than any other theropod that I just had to make a video on it. 00:00: Megatheropod Rivals 00:59: Goliath the Tyrannosaurus rex Measurements 01:55: Consulting Paleontologists To Find The Truth 03:26: Counterpoints & Disclaimers 04:24: Calculating Goliath's Size 06:52: Was Goliath Truly A Giant? 08:00: The Megatheropod Podium Of 2025 09:20: Tyrannosaurus Hypothetical Maximum Size Check out Dino W's allometry tool here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
