WATCH: Sen. Klobuchar visits Duluth to highlight how the ICE surge affects school attendance

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D) Minnesota is in Duluth to highlight the impact the ICE surge in Minnesota is having on school districts. According to the Minnesota Department of Education, school districts across the state have reported decreased attendance and impacts on classroom learning due to ICE operations in the state. Last year, the Department of Homeland Security reversed a longstanding policy preventing ICE from conducting operations in “sensitive locations,” including schools. On Wednesday, February 4, the Duluth Public School district joined the Fridley Public School District and Education Minnesota in a lawsuit to reinstate that policy.
