It's easier to plant and maintain a food forest than you might think! Today we take a tour of our two-year-old #foodforest in USDA Zone 8b. Join the Food Forest Challenge here: https://www.skool.com/the-survival-ga... Daisy's plant store: https://www.etsy.com/shop/GoodGardens Join us at SCRUBFEST III: https://thesurvivalgardener.com/scrub... So far, we have planted dozens of trees and many dozens of shrubs, plus ground covers, vines, vegetables, and more. Cassava and Japanese persimmons, Mahonia, yams, sweet potatoes, pears, apples, apricot, plums, sugarcane and a lot more. And it is all starting to mesh! Planning a food forest doesn't have to be complicated! Pace out some planting spaces and put in your canopy trees, then fill in the gaps. If weeds in the food forest start to be a "problem," cut them down and feed them to your favorite trees and plants. Over time, you can adjust the space via iterative design. Mow the paths. Prune to let in light. Chop and drop. Just don't make the mistake of not planting a food forest! Start planting and learn and grow as you go. Plant a food forest this weekend! Thank you for watching.
