Nirbhaya Rape Case: Supreme Court Upholds Death Penalty Of 3 Rapists

The Supreme Court today upheld the death penalty of three rapists who were awarded the death sentence for the rape and murder of a 23-year-old medical student in Delhi in December 2016. A bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and justices R Banumathi and Ashok Bhushan delivered its judgment on the pleas of Mukesh, 29, Pawan Gupta, 22, and Vinay Sharma, 23. The fourth convict Akshay Kumar Singh, 31, did not file a review petition against the top court's May 5, 2017 judgment.
