I was a professional boxer for 5 years. During my 5 years prior as an amateur who constantly aspired to turn professional, I always struggled to find any information on how the business side of pro boxing worked. So I decided to make this video as an insight into the professional game from my own experiences across a 5 year span. Of course, different scenario’s will create different experiences, top amateurs will have major promoters backing them from the get go and will do all of their ticket sales for them, on the flip side, lots of fighters won’t even be able to sell enough tickets to cover their expenses, meaning they can’t stay active. I was a decent ticket seller and I had a good manager/coach and team around me who looked after me, keeping my best interests in heart. I loved learning with my team and became a really good fighter due to the hard work put in by me & my coaches every day, even through the pandemic. I decided to take a break away from active fighting as a Pro Boxer for a multitude of different reasons after just 8 fights as a professional, something I had never intended to do and my plans were heavily halted by the global pandemic which put the breaks on everything. However I always have lots of young aspiring fighters asking about how much money you make in pro boxing and I think a lot of people are disillusioned. That’s not to say there’s not light at the end of the tunnel, a small portion of boxers earn fortunes and for those talented enough but more importantly with the perseverance, you can make money eventually, but if that’s the route you want to take in the future it’s worth knowing what it takes to get there. If this video can give insight and help anyone hoping to pursue a pro career or just genuinely interested then that’s great. Please make sure to like the video, subscribe and drop a comment.
