I’m celebrating a huge milestone in my birding journey — finally breaking 100 species on my life list! It took me two years (and a lot of lazy listing), but I’m excited to share a few of my recent lifers, including the Red‑headed Woodpecker and Monk Parakeets in Arlington, Texas. But this video isn’t just about lifers. I also share some tough news about my patch. A large section of trees and brush — home to so many of my early lifers — is being cleared for new housing. I’ll documenting the habitat loss as it happens and am looking for ways to support the birds that remain. If you’ve experienced something similar in your neighborhood, I’d love to hear your perspective. Any resources, city contacts, or conservation groups that could help assess or preserve even one tree would mean a lot. Toward the end of the video, I share what’s next for the channel, including my 2026 goals: • Finding the Red‑cockaded Woodpecker • Finally seeing an owl (Barn Owl or Screech Owl locally) • A big upcoming trip to Galveston, where nearly 100 species have been logged at the park we’re visiting If you want to follow along as I work toward 200 birds in 2026, please subscribe. I post funny birding shorts Monday–Friday and thoughtful long‑form videos every other Sunday.
