Hey people!! I hope you all are doing well as this summer comes to an end and life ramps up to levels we get very unaccustomed to in the summer months. The past few weeks have been super unique and awesome, because I got to travel to France to visit one of my best friends Philo! Philo and I met when I was in first year and she was in final year at Trinity, which meant we spent that one year together cycling around Dublin at night and dancing in her apartment. Every time we say goodbye it's very special because we never know when we'll see each other next. I actually think this is the best way to live, we have to 'suck out all the marrow' in every moment (yes that was a Thoreau/Dead Poet Society reference because we watched it in Grenoble and then did our own version of a Dead Poet Society meeting in a treehouse later that week... watch to find out more hehe) In general, that is how my friend Philo lives, ready to jump up at any moment and bound up a mountain. I find myself struck by the beauty of living in such state of awe so constantly. I have a lot to learn still, but with Philo I feel drunk on the color green, really good vegan chocolate, and fresh fruit. I'm glad I recorded so much of the twelve days we spent together, because it was so packed full of new experiences. I did via ferrata for the first time (didn't even know what this was before), and camped and hiked in the alps. I experienced the horrible heat of August in France, and we went to a folk festival where I learned dozens of traditional dances. And I had the humbling experience of staying in a house clamoring with French, and only speaking English. Language is such a vital means of connecting with people and I'm very grateful for the effort that both Philo's family and all the strangers I met made to speak to me in my own language. Next time I'd like to be able to return the favor :)) I really can't do that French R though it's so hard. I make this video mostly to thank my dear friend Philo for bringing me all around her beautiful country. Merci beaucoup choupipouuu, tu shine ma sis! P.S. I realize this video is like nine minutes long so no pressure to watch all or any of it. I LOVE YOU ALL & THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE Mairead
