PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION – Looking for a fun Halloween idea? Let me be your acrylic art instructor as I teach you easy step-by-step instructions throughout this fun beginner art video as you learn how to paint Halloween costumes on gnomes out trick or treating—a whimsical and comical image of "TRICK OR TREAT GNOMES" with acrylic paint. Growing up in the hill towns as a kid, there was a lot of acreage separating homes so there was not many neighborhood activities or communal events, except for the local fair once a year, and there sure was not much Trick or Treating. Not many parents allowed their kids to walk through narrow dirt roads at night to knock on the door of a house in the middle of the woods asking for candy. So, this is something I missed out on as a child, but, the good news, I got to share and enjoy the experience with my son throughout his childhood. The neighborhood I raised him in was perfect for house hopping and candy shopping on Halloween night with many houses and kids and parents on the street having a good time. My son loved his Power Ranger, Spiderman and Mummy costumes. He's all grown up now and I miss it, so I’m pretty excited to share with you this tutorial that will perhaps be a little nostalgic and conjure up some fond memories for yourself. The painting process for this beginner art lesson is so simple. First, you’ll learn how to paint a background with dark sepia colors, the perfect atmosphere for your fun and spooky Halloween painting. After learning how to draw gnomes using a simple dot to dot method, you’ll apply a base coat using color theory for your loveable characters. In the next art step, you’ll learn how to paint clothes on the mummy and Frankenstein by layering colors and adding highlights and shadows to create form, texture and depth in the fabric for a realistic 3-D photograph affect. You’ll then learn how to blend the perfect skin tone for the cute noses and hands, adding highlights and shadows for dimension. You’ll repeat this painting process when you paint the gnome shoes, and Frankenstein’s beard and head. You’ll then learn how to paint branches and grass using a one brushstroke technique, giving the feel that your costume-wearing candy mongers are outside in an enchanted forest. The art lesson is so easy to follow, you’ll have confidence to change the painting in any way you want. You can change the gnomes’ costumes to a vampire, a werewolf, a witch, a ghost, a scarecrow, a goblin, or any ghoulish creature you would like. The point is to have fun and create the perfect canvas wall art fitting to decorate your home. An easy Halloween DIY project idea. Using only 3 brushes and 6 colors, you’ll paint like a professional and create the best canvas painting in the world! Have a date night, paint party, paint and sip event, or virtual paint night.
