Rehat Traditional Irrigation System of Punjab | Water Wheel Irrigation

Rahat isan old traditional Irrigation system of Punjab. Farmers are irrigating their land with the help of this system for decades before the partition of India and Pakistan. This ancient traditional irrigation method is also known as persian wheel method of irrigation and water wheel irrigation system. Bulls play very important role in this traditional method of irrigation. Cattle not only provide food but also support in farms to complete different task with ease. Bulls or cows are very helpful in irrigation. This water technology system is disappearing day by day but still in practice in some parts of punjab, khyber pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan of Pakistan. In this traditional method bulls pull up water from a well or other such source to irrigate the land. Farmers use a large wheel and tie it above the water source or well. Bulls or cows move the wheel and fetch the water up.
