Thanjavur , Actor-politician Vijay addresses his TVK functionaries from eight Assembly constituencies at Ayyasamipatti in Thanjavur district on Wednesday. The TVK founder, who left his Chennai residence early in the morning, arrived at the Tiruchirappalli airport and proceeded by road to address the meeting at the historically significant Thanjavur. The district has eight Assembly constituencies, including a constituency reserved for SC - Thiruvidaimarudur - and it is represented by Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister Govi Chezhiaan. Out of the eight, the DMK won seven seats while the AIADMK managed to win from Orathanadu in the 2021 Assembly poll. The other constituencies are: Kumbakonam, Papanasam, Thiruvaiyaru, Thanjavur, Pattukkottai, and Peravurani. The once capital of the medieval Chola empire, Thanjavur, is a centre of power and art. It is also the home of the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Brihadeeswarar temple. The district continues to maintain its agrarian elegance.
