Between 1947 and 1953, a Swedish research team set out to investigate the cause and prevention of tooth decay. Their study would be groundbreaking for global dental care, but the 660 involuntary test subjects payed a high price. Debates about the experiment are very much ongoing in 2021. What happened behind locked doors at Vipeholm Hospital? Varning. This video contains accounts of severe abuse directed towards adults and children with disabilities. I am not a native English speaker and thus based the terminology on the British Government’s guidelines for inclusive language. This is my first video that discusses more contemporary history. It was a challenge, as my area tends to be earlier time periods. But it’s interesting to do something out of the box. Also, I'm saving up for a new microphone and lights!
