Music compositions inspired by the memoir of Dr. Mary Bruins Allison WASMIYAH BY SULAIMAN ALDIKAN 2015 CONCERT "Wasmiyah" was a Kuwaiti dream that was born and raised with love at a particular place that ran for over 30 years with a loving heart. It is an experience of humanity with a blend of emotions, feelings and nobility. "Lite is a great experience" - Mary Bruins Allison Mary Bruins Allison, the American doctor, was born into a conservative family in the American Mid-West in 1903. Her mother died ten days after she gave birth to her. A year after she was born, her father remarried after living a love story. Her step mother took care of little Mary and she enjoyed a happy childhood with her father and new mother. Dr. Allison came to Kuwait via Gibraltar through Marseilles and Naples, and then to Alexandria and Cairo, Beirut, Haifa and Baghdad, to reach Kuwait, which she described as "the peaceful land". Kuwait was not just great but there was certainly something charming about it. The first steps Mary Allis's had to take in order to fulfil her dreams was by joining the American Mission Hospital in Kuwait, which was in need of land to build a hospital. Sheikh Mubarak al-Sabah (r. 1915-1896) offered a land for the hospital, which was overlooking the sea, and welcomed the idea and the people who came willing to help. The dream became a home that was Kuwait for Mary Allison who was given an Arabic name, "Wasmiyah". She expressed her feelings towards Kuwait as, "Life was so calm and peaceful, even the voices were blending with nature". Between the years 1934 and 1975, "Wasmiyah" lived about thirty years in the Gulf and spent most of her time in Kuwait working in the American Mission Hospital. During her stay in Kuwait, she travelled to India, Bahrain، and Oman. However, her heart was totally in Kuwait, she used to miss it whenever she had to leave it and come back to the country she had always loved.
