There are 28 caves in the National Park, and four are open to the public for self-guided, guided and adventure caving tours. You can view the interesting displays at the Visitor Centre, explore the Wonambi Fossil Centre and Fossil Hunters Playground and wander around the Roof Top Loop Walk. Alexandra Cave The Alexandra Cave tour takes 30 minutes, and you are guided through three beautiful chambers, where you will see stalactites, stalagmites, and columns. The guide discusses how the caves were formed and the region's geology. Stick-Tomato Cave You can explore Stick-Tomato Cave on a leisurely self-guided tour through two chambers to see robust columns and stalactites. The first chamber has lovely natural light filtering through, and the second is dark and mysterious, with automated lighting. Wonambi Fossil Centre The Wonambi Fossil Centre recreates a time when megafauna roamed the world. Palaeontologists have been studying the fossils and bones in the caves for over 40 years. They have identified 130 species of mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds, and you can learn about them here.
