Student collapses after smoking THC vape laced with fentanyl

NEW YORK (WRGB) — The Coxsackie-Athens School District Superintendent is warning of a scary situation at a Central New York school. Superintendent Randy Squier felt sharing the incident with students and parents was a necessary step in protection. I was recently notified by a colleague about a school district located in Central NY that had a student using what was believed to be a marijuana vape. The student indicated that they had inhaled once on the vape. After doing so, the student collapsed in the hallway of his school and needed to be provided with life-saving care, including multiple doses of NARCAN. The student was transported by ambulance to the hospital to recover," the letter to parents reads. "When the vape was tested, it tested positive for Fentanyl. It is not a far stretch to imagine that this student's story could have ended very differently. According to Squier, "the vape was not purchased at a licensed dispensary, but apparently purchased at an independent convenience store, which is unlicensed and not legally allowed to dispense marijuana in any form."
