California Grill | Disney's Contemporary Resort | Minnie Van Ride - Day 7 Part 2

Its time to get ready for our dinner reservation we decided to order a Minnie Van to take us to the Contemporary resort as we were eating at The California Grill. The ride in the Minnie Van was ace, Lily loved the TV screens on the back of the seats our driver started out his Disney life as a CEP before working at Disney full time for the past 10 years. We were early for our reservation so we took a walk round the resort and then had a drink in the bar on property, it all felt very decadent. We finally made our way to the check in desk where Jim took us up to the restaurant - our table was ready as soon as we walked in - as this was Ashley’s belated Birthday treat it was noted on the reservation so our table was sprinkled with Mickey glitter - what can we say about this meal except wow !!! Ron our server was amazing and he talkers us through every plate on the menu - California grill is a prix fixe menu there are 3 courses with lots of options x Lily had the duck Thai curry, Ashley had sure and turf roll and Nadine had a sushi that Ron recommended that wasn’t on the menu - these offerings continually change and it was delicious - we did ask about the wine pairing but Ron said that this wasn’t really worth the money as it was 3 very small glasses and a bottle to share would work out cheaper -we thought that was really nice of him to be so honest. The starters were so beautifully presented and were delicious every bite was met with oohs and aahs from all of us - our main courses were even better !!! Lily had the oak grilled filet of beef, Ashley had the pork tenderloin and an added dish of tiger prawns and I had the scallops - the plates when they arrived looked too nice to eat - Lily’s beef was cooked to perfection she said it was so easy to cut - my scallops were incredible and the flavours of the vegetables were soo good Ashley really loved his pork tenderloin but the winner for him were the tiger prawns. On to desserts and I didn’t think I could eat another bite but when the desserts came out that thought quickly disappeared Lily had the pistachio chocolate mousse, Ashley the blueberry goat cheesecake and I had the caramel cappuccino cake - calories don’t count on holiday … right ? and as it was Ashley’s night Ron also brought out a little raspberry and chocolate mousse cake with a candle in and we all sang Happy Birthday to him - thus included the whole kitchen staff which was lovely - our table was near the open kitchen and I loved watching the chefs cooking and creating our amazing meals. The desserts truly made a fantastic end to our meal - we finished of with coffee and a cocktail again suggested by Ron - as an extra special treat to the evening when you book the California Grill this gives you access to their balcony where you get a spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom and the castle. where we got a little bit crazy we had packed a change of footwear as Lily and I had gone all out and were wearing heels - it was about 10.30 when we left the restaurant and the Starlight Parade was on at 11.00pm at Magic Kingdom - after working out it would be quicker to walk than risk the 20 minute round trip monorail ride we set off waddling to MK following the walking path - at 10.50pm we scanned into MK. We were in and out of MK in 25 minutes how crazy is that ?!? We manage to get a bus straight away - there was one there at our stop I think we all literally passed out asleep as soon as we climbed into bed - this was a truly magical nightWe are the Horn family, there are 4 of us and we have been travelling to Orlando since 2009.
