Paint Technology talk with Peter Terezakis's Art & Technology class from NYU. In this video we discuss our paint component system and our color chart, in addition to paint making demonstrations. We cover what dispersions are, the importance of grinding your pigments, a description of the grinding process, where the pigments we grind come from, who they are made for, extinct pigments, pigment classes, pigment properties (i.e.  Lightfastness, tinting strength, opacity, weatherfastness and alkali resistance) and lightfastness ratings based on the blue wool scale. We demonstrate how to make heavy body textured paint using dry fillers, the importance of acquiring pigments from reliable sources and finish with a discussion on safety in the studio.
