I am in no way affiliated with VCAA and have no insider knowledge to the correct answers or the mark scheme. I do this to help students (and teachers) do well in Mathematics. For those who do not have the ti-nSpire and hence the program which works this out I tried to find out how to do this by hand without having to do it 5 times! When you add Edgars line into the CAS it works it out for you. When I try and do it by hand it didn't work. Until I realised that the matrix MUST be square. A quick search of google found the following: "I'm trying to implement the Hungarian algorithm. Everything is fine except for when the matrix isn't square. All the methods I've searched are saying that I should make it square by adding dummy rows/columns, and filling the dummy row/column with zeros." So. When you add Task 5 and make the column zero and THEN do the algorithm, it will work, Note about Question 40: It's much easier to do this by looking for any dummies. Choices A, C and D would all require dummies and so it has to be B. Had I done this first, I would have finished the question in 30 seconds.
