WEAVERS - ТКАЧИ a dance film by Lena Kholkina In a surreal world, a kind of celestial office, weavers create the fabric of reality. Hand string games, weaving on the loom, threads as a symbol of connection, relationships and destinies are intertwined with mythological stories associated with the motif of weaving, from different cultures. Many of them, on a metaphorical level, tell about events from the collective lifestyle of women of the past, which also resonate today. The images of Ariadne, Arachne, Penelope, the Lady of Shalott, Philomela, the three sisters Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos (the Moirae) have long inspired poets, writers and philosophers, and it is interesting how the silent weaver has become a dual figure - she can use the craft to her advantage, for control or for communication when other means are impossible; she is unpredictable, independent and self-sustained.
