Dr. M. Lance Tavana, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery - MUSC Health Nexton Medical Park

M. Lance Tavana, M.D., was born in 1978 in Erie, Pennsylvania. He left home at an early age to attend Deerfield Academy Preparatory School in western Massachusetts during his high school years. He then moved west and attended Stanford University, where he earned a B.S. in Biology in 2000. Medical school brought him back east to Philadelphia, where he obtained his medical degree at Temple University in 2004. Residency sent him south to Tampa at the University of South Florida. After completing his internship in general surgery, he continued his plastic surgery residency at USF, graduating in 2011. Further fellowship training in the specialty of hand and upper extremity surgery continued in Pittsburgh, PA, through the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. His training finished in 2012, at which point he accepted a position at the Medical University of South Carolina as Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Tavana practices general plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery as well as specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. He sees patient for many different disorders and conditions - skin cancer, wound care, cosmetic concerns, botox and soft tissue fillers, scar revision, keloids, traumatic wounds, body contouring, facial trauma, cancer reconstruction, large abdominal hernia repair, breast reduction and augmentation, etc. Dr. Tavana treats all conditions of the upper extremity from the elbow to fingertip, including but not limited to: rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, fractures, amputations, lacerations, tendon and nerve injuries, congenital conditions, Dupuytren's disease , carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, hand/wrist/elbow pain, tennis elbow and sports injuries.
