Listen to "Grace and Prayer" by MusicABout An original Bluegrass Gospel hymn inspired by the timeless message of "Ere You Left Your Room This Morning." About the Visuals: Take a journey through the quiet beauty of a winter day in the Richland Valley of Searcy County, Arkansas. From the dormant plants to the mountain vistas of the Ozark hills, these scenes capture the somber, peaceful spirit of the season and the ancestors who worked this land. Song Story: "Grace and Prayer" is inspired by the old gospel hymn "Ere You Left Your Room This Morning" by M. A. Kidder (1876). It reminds us that just as many of the old folks before us we should never forget to pray in everything we do. Lyrics: [Verse 1] The silence settles on the hardwood floor The sun is spillin' through the open door. I look out on the green and rolling land Where fences rise and barns forever stand. This peace didn't come from simple toil or sweat It’s paid for by a debt I can’t forget. Before the morning breaks the shadows gray, Did I take the time to stop and pray? [Chorus] Oh, how praying rests the weary, It turns the darkest night into the day. So when the road you walk is steep and dreary, Don't... forget... to pray. [Verse 2] When shadows stretched across the weary soul And thunder rolled beyond the struggle’s toll, They didn't trust the strength of human hands To guide the plow across these rocky lands. They sought the favor of the Savior’s face To hold this home within a shield of grace. They claimed the Spirit as their guide and stay, And turned the darkest night into the day. [Chorus] Oh, how praying rests the weary, It turns the darkest night into the day. So when the road you walk is steep and dreary, Don't forget to pray. [Verse 3] So ere I step into the world outside Where temptations wait and angry hearts abide, I’ll seek the Balm of Gilead for my own And bow before the foot of Heaven’s throne. I’ll walk the path the faithful used to tread And rest the weary heart and heavy head. Let blessings fall on those who come my way, Lord, help me not forget to pray. [Chorus] Oh, how praying rests the weary, It turns the darkest night into the day. So when the road you walk is steep and dreary, Don't forget to pray. [Outro] O how praying rests the weary... Yeah, prayer will change the night to day. So don't forget to pray.
