Dr. Jonathan Roth cares for patients with musculoskeletal conditions, specifically those of the knee and shoulder. A board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who is part of Atlantic Medical Group’s Ortho-Care Wayne practice, Dr. Roth provides both operative and non-operative therapies. His clinical specialties include minimally invasive procedures of the ligaments and cartilage for knee joint instability, shoulder arthritis and traumatic and sports injuries. He served as an orthopedic surgeon in the U.S. Navy for 11 years, caring for active-duty service members, retirees, and their families. Dr. Roth received his training at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA, and pursued fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. While on active duty, he served as a general orthopedic surgeon in Naples, Italy, and as a sports medicine orthopedic surgeon at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Virginia. He also served as an assistant professor of surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. Learning Objectives: Review the anatomy and pathology of cartilage and cartilage injuries. Discuss various diagnostic methods, such as advanced imaging, physical examination, and/or diagnostic arthroscopies, to diagnose and evaluate cartilage injuries. Discuss and access palliative, reparative, and restorative treatment options to treat cartilage injuries, including various surgical and non-surgical treatments.
