Sycamore Slough String Band: New Speedway Boogie

The story of this arrangement is one of those wonderful mysteries of creativity. On Xmas day, at a party, I picked up a guitar and started playing an intense groove in D with a descending bass line. I don't know where I got the idea to try singing "New Speedway Boogie" over it, but it worked! I love the way the bass line lands so gratifyingly on the F chord in the last line of each verse. It was a gift that helped launch this band; these players embraced my inspiration and gave me three strong takes, of which we completed the middle one.
