Here there are several campgrounds that a free to stay on a first come, first serve basis. If you want hook -ups, check out Sanford - Yake Campground. There are ten reservation only sites with water and electric. What we love about Sanford - Yake Campground: 1. Large sites, pull through, scenic 2. Lake Meredith - beautiful! 3. Lots to do in the area - fishing, boat rentals, hiking and biking nearby 4. Verizon service works well 5. Inexpensive and free camping available What we didn't love about Sanford - Yake Campground: 1. Goathead stickers EVERYWHERE! Beware if you have dogs and children. They are so bad in the campground area that we had to drive elsewhere to walk our dogs. I do not know if the are seasonal, we visited in April and they were bad. 2. Expect wind!
